| I walked into the class room, anxious about my first class. I flicked her wand and wrote on the small black board:
Magical Items and Devices
And set a paper on every desk that read:"Chose one of the devices listed below and write 2-3 paragraphs about. Make sure you include in them what it does, why YOU think it was created, why someone would use it, and if it could be considered good magic or evil magic.
Items: Advertising Blackboard Brooms Poisonous Candle Invisibility Cloak Foe Glass Secrecy Sensor Sneak-o-Scope Deluminator Hand of Glory Horcruxes Howlers The Mirror of Erised Pensive Remembrall" And then I said to the class."Any questions?"

| Brooms- I believe brooms were invented for many reasons, and here are some of them. Brooms help wizards get around without having to pass an apparation test. To take an apparation test, you have to be 17, but to have a broom, you have to have cool parents. When you have a broom, you can play qudditch, which is the most common wizard sport. I think brooms are definitely a GOOD thing. They help wizards with many things. I can't think of anything except that they can be very pricey, that is bad about them. I personally think brooms are one of the best inventions in wizard history. | |

| Remembrall-
A remembrall is useful. It lights up, in the color of your choice, to tell you that you have forgotten something. I think it was created because too many witches and wizards were forgetting things. So the remembrall was created to help in the assentence to remember. Someone would use it if they were very forgetful. The only con to the remembrall is that it cant tell you what you forgot, so if you cant remember what you forgot then you would know you forgot something, but would't know what it was. This is definatly considered good magic!

| A shallow stone basin with odd runes and symbols carved around the edge. When in use, a silvery light shines from its contents, which are bright, whitish silver, and cloud-like, moving ceaselessly. Harry thought the stuff in the basin looked like "light made liquid - or like wind made solid. It allows the user to recollect the past and scan through even the most minute detail, if needed.I thought the wizard who invented this was an old guy and he couldnt remember things, and he wanted to read through his memories again and again | |

| The Mirror of Erised:
When a person looks into the mirrior of erised, he or she see's his or hers deepest hearts desire. Like Professor Dumbledore said in the first book that the mirrior doesn't show the truth, and that people waste away infront of it. If you ever come across the mirrior, don't dwell on looking in it. The mirrior of Erised was called that because Erised spelled backwards is Desire. I think it was invented by someone who was very sad. So sad that he would be a little happy if he looked into the mirrior. I think this isn't good nor bad magic. I mean, you can use it in good ways, but also bad.

| The Hand of Glory is a magical instrument which appears often in mystic lore. It is described as a severed and preserved human hand, with a candle inplanted on it. The various powers ascribed to a Hand Of Glory include the ability to immobilize anyone who looks at it, or unlock any door it comes across. It was used by thieves, it allowed them to open locked doors and immobilize guards that's why it belongs to evil spells(Things). In some dark magical ceremonies, Hands of Glory were reputed to have been used as the source of illumination. Also The Hand of Glory gives light(candle light) only to the beholder. Owners are Draco Malfoy and the shop called "Borgin and Burkes" The Hand of Glory is an evil thing O_O | |

| Invisibility cloak- is a cloak that if put on will make you appear invisible. It was probably created by someone who got into a lot of mischief....but there was also the story of the deathly hallowes which may or may not be why it was created. Someone would use it if they were doing something and didn't want to be caught. It could be considered good magic or bad magic because it could be used like how Harry used it or it could used by a thief. | |

| Very good Minerva 20 points to gryffindor
Now take your object and tell me a way your object could be used in the opposite way. For example, a wand is a universally good object but some one could curse one and then it would be a "bad" object. Please give detail, more than one sentence>.>

| Before I said that the mirrior of erised wasn't good or evil. I guess right now I can explain fully. The mirrior of erised could be good in some ways, but it depends who's looking into it. For Harry, it wouldn't exactly be good, because when he looks into it he see"s himslef with his family, so that would just make him sad because he can't do anything about being able to see his family agian. But for Ron it would be different. For him, when he looks into the mirrior he see's himself as the quidditch captain. This could be good because the image of himself being great, might give him th confidence to get better at quidditch. Also, if you put some advanced magic on it, it can protect something, like the philosiphers stone. The mirrior of erised can be evil because people can waste away infront of it. Its not very likely, but it can be used as a distraction, if someone was supposed to be saving someone, and they see a weird mirrior, they will get distracted. Often enough time for the person or peoplee they were chasing. | |
