I know I am 2 days late to post the DS 2010 Topic, but please bear with me

Let the fire of words begin!!

I think that the death penalty is the right thing to do. It is a much better concequence then rotting away in jail or suffering torture worse then death.

It also costs a lot of money to keep prisoners in prisons; Food, water, electricity. all cost money. Tax money. OUR money, we are paying to let criminals live, the get 3 meals a day, that's more luxury than a lot of good people get

I think it is horrible! If you put yoursleves in their shoes how do you feel?
If you are going to be killed, there is no hope. It is about to end.
But if you are going to jail, there is a glimmer of hope that one day you can leave.
What if, you were innocent? And you were killed. Think about it this way. The money that you are paying for them. Could be supporting an innocent life. Somebody that was thought to be a criminal, but wasn't.
Also, if they are really criminals, then let them rot in jail! Why kill them, when they can suffer worse circumstances?! If you really just hate criminals, then you would want them to rot in jail.

"Worse circumstances"? In Jails, prisoners can count on food a bed a toilet a roof, around an hour of physical activities, every day. Which is, as I mentioned before, more than most law abiding citizens can hope for in a week, sometimes months

It all depends on the jail.
Some jails are horrible! You get an hour of physical activities, which is really just mindless work! I don't think any homeless people would go to a jail. Besides the roof, bed, and toilet, it is badd. I would like to point out that homeless people have a better chance than people in jail. Homeless people can get a job. Prisoners are stuck. So why don't we just kill them all? Becuase , people need hope. If you know the person that is in jail, you can speak to them. You can know that they are okay. But when we just kill everybody, their families lose more. They are already ashamed of what the family member did, but to make it worse, the family memeber is killed.

I will explain the better situation here, We dont wont those murderers not having anything but straight away go to the killing chamber and get death penalty there, instead for the sake of those victims who have been killed, for their souls to get glory, the people who murdered them must rot in the jail and must be doomed to live away his life in the jail, where you have no right to expression, freedom or anything!!

It is not a waste of money, because years then we spend lost of money on every little luxury we want and have we really cared about the families of the people that cried and spend their days in wailing in memory of their lost ones? Money is nothing when it comes to emotion, as only emotions can mean you are really a true human and arguing in the name of emotions for the sake of money show how flagrantly justice is misjudged these days.

Not so to mention, let me remind no one here have the right to take away life, for what purposes they may be and this is exactly why we are punishing the murderers or those behind, and likewise, the same justice is to be meted out to all others

The thing about the death penalty is that no one really deserves to die no matter what they did in the past. I mean If someone murders lets say 3 or 4 people and they are sentanced guilty and to death then what are we doing? We are sinking down to their level by killing them. It would be better to be in a jail cell because you get to think of it and if you actually end up let out on paroll then you have a chance to make things right in the world.. While there are still more killers in the world either way. But without the death penalty then Murderers and assulters and kidnappers all have a chance to make things right in the world and let go with their past selves.. That is if they get on parol or let out early.

I must agree, killing them doesnt give them a chance to change, but while putting them behind the bars, we ensure they are given opportunity to change

Exactly! And the thing is that we kill them then what are we? Wouldnt we be the same as them? someone who kills?

We would. And if this world ever wants peace, we can't just kill everyone. We NEED to find a better solution.

Yes, but think about it this way. Murderers don't find jails much of a threat. Perhaps if there was death penalty, there would be less killings in the long run.

And, it's for the greater good, if the ones who were killing are dead thereis no one killing innocent people.think about it like this, a mosquito lands on your best friend's arm and (somehow) you know that it has the malaria virus, you would slap the bug and kill it right?

Murderers have a choice though! If they realize what they did was wrong, then they will stop! You have to give them a chance to change. Everybody needs a second chance. No matter how you put it. Everybody needs a second chance, and everybody deserves a second chance. What if you regret it? What if you are just so sorry, but nobody believes you, and you die. You die a criminal.

If they regret it enough then they'll probably agree to be killed. They would rather die then live the rest of there lives with the guilt.

Probably? We can't just make assumptions like that! If we all lived by probably, then the world would be madness. People could think "Well he probably wanted me to kill him". We can't do that. We can't assume

Okay, we won't assume. If you killed someone, and were given a second chance because you regretted it, would you be able to live with the guilt? Because you wouldn't be able to anything good to even it out, you'd be stuck in jail for the rest of your life!

What if they did their time, and they were let out? If we were sure that it wouldn't happen again, and we kept a close watch on them, they could so something to change. They could do something to try and make up for what they did.

Do you really think there's something someone could do to make up for killing someone? I sure don't.

That is an opinion. It may not really make up for what they did, but it can make them feel better when they die. It would make their heart feel better.

Okay I have a few questions. How do we know if murders find jail a threat? Some people arent even thinking when they kill people. And there are some who would kill because they are afraid of making someone upset and that person they are trying to keep happy tells them to kill this person. Some people dont have a choice in what they do because drugs have taken over their brain and they cant help it. We really dont know if jail is a threat to murders because I bet you no one ever asks. And also if Jail was a threat then why would murders hide and run huh? Thats what I dont get.

And what right do we have to kill people even if they did kill others? If we do that then we are being just like that. The lord doesnt believe in killing and no matter what your belief is killing isnt a good thing no matter what a person did to make you think they deserve it. No one in the world deserves to die. No matter how bad they are. Everyone deserves a second chance though and if you go killing those who do wrong then what does that prove? It proves that you dont know how to give second chances. For all of those people who were killed by murders, Especially those who believe in The Lord and second chances they would forgive the killers and most likely ask not to give them the death penalty. Its just how people are. Everyone knows that no matter what no one ever deserves to die. I mean everyone gets punished right? So what if you lied or hit someone or hurt their feelings or anything that isnt as bad as killing. Does that mean you dont deserve to die while the murder does? It most certantly does not. If all men are created equal then those who were killed for killing others shouldnt have been killed or those who didnt get killed for any bad things shouldve gotten killed. Its just how things should be in the world. If one person gets killed for doing something that bad then anyone should be able to get killed for doing something bad no matter how bad it should be. Now how would the world be then? No one would be alive besides the court and those who actually dont do anything bad (as in no one at all)

Tonks said stuff about criminals have a choice and thats true. They do have a choice. Would you like to die knowing that you did something that no one would give you a chance to try to make better of it? Im pretty sure you wouldnt. Its logical the whole way. Im pretty sure about 90% of those criminals who were prosacuted were upset and crying when they were told they were to be put to death. I bet they knew that they wouldnt ever get a chance to try to make things right in the world no matter what happened.

And why would someone agree to being killed just because they regret what they did. They wouldnt. They would rather live with the guilt trying as hard as they can to make the best of the world that they can no matter how hard it is. They would be good in prison and not try to get out. If they have a chance they would write stories telling how everything works or they would write to those who they hurt trying to get them to understand how guilty they feel. No one in their right mind would want to die no matter what they did. Like I said they would want to make the best of it and try to make things right in the world no matter how difficult.

And with the guilt, You might not have to live your life in prison. You might get out and that guilt will show on your face no matter where you were. Others would be able to tell you felt guilt for doing whatever you did. Even though they would be scared of you for you being a criminal if you ever got on paroll there would be people who would like to help you with making a difference into the world.

And anyone could make a difference and make up for killing another person. They could help with the world. Try saving those in other countries who are enslaved and maybe even teach prisoners who wont ever get out how to live the rest of their life. Not to live in anger but to live in your guilt and make the best of the world. Even though they cant exactly make up for it they can still try helping others understand that criminals change.
