The Golden Snidget
The Golden Snidget is a small golden bird with fully rotational wings. It was once a quite common animal, but due to the sports of Snidget Hunting and the old game of Quidditch has depleted the species a considerable amount.
The Golden Snidget, in the game of Quidditch, has now been replaced by the Golden Snitch (Bowman Wright, 1492-1560).
Chief Bragge, the man who first released the Golden Snidget into the game of Quidditch, offered one hundred and fifty Galleons to the first player who caught it, which prompted a witch in the crowd (Madam Modesty Rabnott) to produce a summoning charm (most likely
Accio), summoning the animal to her so that she could release the Golden Snidget into the wild.
When it became apparent to the Quidditch fanatics that the Golden Snidget was coming close to extinction, so they made it a protected species. Which introduced the Golden Snitch into the game of Quidditch, becoming a better alternative to it's living, endangered alternative.
Although it is illegal, a wand core of
Snidget Feather is also found on the black market. A shop in Knockturn Alley (Trove of Tartarus) sells wands with many illegal wand cores (including Acromantula Fang and Vampire Fang).
Snidget Feather is highly illegal wand substance, witches and wizards with wands containing the core of a Snidget Feather, have either bought it illegally or inherited from older member in their families.
