Transfiguration(Class One, All years)

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned." I said as everyone shuffled to their seats.

"Let's start with something simple. I want you each to give me 3 examples of Transfiguration from the books and/or the movies and describe whether they were helpful or if they hindered the caster. I don't particularly care how long it is, that is up to you, however you have to give fair detail about your opinion." I finished as every one pulled out their parchment and quills.

"Errm, Professor, It may seem rather bad myself, but can you please tell me what are the results of the Antonin Dolohov's curse? Professor Flitwick scolded me for asking teh question, but quite some time I had been reading some books from the library, and I am so curious to know what are the effects of this spell" asked Snape as he showed an excited face curiously waiting for the answer

I was sure of one thing, either the answer of the scolding came my way, I wont be so excited if the scoldings came by my way

1.In the fourth year, Mad-eye uses transfiguration on Draco. and turned him onto a ferret Though it was funny, it was wrong for him to do that. So I think that it hindered caster.

2.In the second book I believe, McGonagall transforms a bird into a water goblet. I find this very helpful

3.In the fourth book, Viktor Krum transforms into half shark, so that he could breathe underwater for the second task in the Triwizard tournament . I would think that that would be helpful.

1. In the second to last book, herminone transfigures some birds, then sends them on Ron. I dont think that was the right thing....

She couldn't think of anything else.... so she sat there and tried, waiting for an idea to come...

Only not as corny, and better thought out. This one could fetch you maybe 5 points.

"Oh no!...y-you d-dog,you killed my sister's rabbit!!!Wait a second! I have an idea!"-Ron casts a spell at dog: "Lapifors!!" -dog transforms to a rabbit."Phew! This was close.*Sighs*!What have I done to my dog?!!OK , calm down Ron!-[i]says Ron to himself."I know! Undo-Lapifors!-dog untransfigurated back to...a dog."OK now I have to cast a spell at other small object or animal.YES!"-Ron laughed treacheorously, then casts a spell on spider "You are mine Spider! Lapifors!-a spider turns into a rabbit. - "What a reliefe! Everything is back to normal"

I want you to all chose one of the major advantages some one might get from being good at Transfiguration, and write two paragraphs about it. And by 2 paragraphs i mean TWO PARAGRAPHS, not one sentence, each paragraph needs 3-5 sentences minimum in it.

These will be worth around 30 points as the highest and 10 as the lowest

One advantage of being good at transfiguration is that you will always have that with you! What i mean is, you can almost always solve a problem with your transfiguration skills. Like if you had to hide something transfiguration would help you.

Then of course they can help in battle! Being able to transform something or someone in battle is a big advantage! Who knows how that could affect you and others. Tranfiguration is a very helpful and universal skill to obtain.

One advantage of being good at transfiguration is that if were being attacked either person or animal you could defend yourself. If it were an animal you could simply turn them into a water goblet. Or if it was a person one could turn them into stone or possibly into a duck.

Another advantage is that if you need to make something disappear or if you are tired of reading you are tired of studying your textbooks u can make them disappear. If you have something to hide you can make it dissapear. If you are tired of reading your textbooks you could simply turn them into mice.

1. Minerva McGonagall transfigured herself to a cat to guard on the Little Whinging, Surrey an hour before the dark lord vanished and Dumbledore decided to leave Harry with the only remaining true blood of his mother. It was later on then, The boy Who Lived joined Hogwarts

2. Alaster Moody transfigured Draco Malfoy into a ferret when he insulted Harry potter and in the goblet of fire. It was professor Minerva McGonagall who retransfigured the ferret into Mr Malfoy and warned Mad Eye that Hogwarts Staff donot use transfiguration as a method to punish children

3. While in the Triwizard Tournament, Victor Krum transfigured himself to a shark for breathing underwater so he could win the TriWizard Tournament. Obviously at the end of the book he fails the battle but still makes a appealing impression on the readers

I do believe, in all these instances transfiguration is very useful except that i have strong opposition to Professor Moody's chill it off attitude towards the Head Master who warns him in his chamber that transfiguration is not to be used for punishing

I stood up and asked "Professor Lilly, you are not meaning that Severus will turn into a Dark Wizard right? If we know the dark only can we face it, so can I too express my anxiety in hearing his question answered?"

And to answer your question, Mr. Malfoy, I have no ability in foresight hence I can not tell you if Severus will become an evil wizard or not, I do however, have excellent hindsight, so I can prevent previous events form reoccurring. When , Mr. Riddle was a student here he asked very similar leading questions about dark arts, that obviously had very little roots in Transfiguration, or any classes he asked in for that matter. Given, thus far, this is the only trait i have seen similar in these two students ; I still object to answering with out viable reasons. Unless Mr. Snape can come up with such, I do not believe I will be answering this question.

One advantage for Transfiguration is that you can use it in your everyday life. If you're out to eat and the waitress didn't bring you the drink you want you could simply transfigure it into any beverage you'd like (only in the wizarding community of course). The same could be said with your order. If you ordered something and you either didn't get it, got it but it wasn't quite right, or even if you changed your mind you could use your Transfiguration knowledge to have the food you'd like appear before you.

Another advantage is in confrontations. This could be a confrontation with another person or with an animal of some sort. Let's say you're walking home and someone comes out from the shadows and is intending to hurt you. You could simply turn him/her into a small animal that you can easily catch or a rock or other stationary object. You could turn him/her into anything that you can take with you to the proper authorities (if they're muggle authorities of course you'd turn him/her back first) and turn them in.

Now I ask you all to try to do some extra credit research about how Transfigurations relates to other school topics as well as the muggle world(and the books.) However you can turn in anything extra you know about Transfigurations as your extra credit.

ANIMAGI
An Animagus possesses the ability to transform themselves into an animal at will, while still retaining their human mind. This is considered a form of transfiguration, and a hard one at that. It takes years for one to master this skill but proves very useful. Minerva McGonagall was a registered Animagus, but stated herself that it was only for educational purposes. However, Animagi can transform at will, while a spell is needed to transfigure oneself. Animagi can only take the form of one animal. This animal form is not chosen by the wizard, but determined by their inner traits and personality.

I know a lot more, but I don't know should I repeat all that I have already written in Transfiguration Essay.
