| One advantage for Transfiguration is that you can use it in your everyday life. If you're out to eat and the waitress didn't bring you the drink you want you could simply transfigure it into any beverage you'd like (only in the wizarding community of course). The same could be said with your order. If you ordered something and you either didn't get it, got it but it wasn't quite right, or even if you changed your mind you could use your Transfiguration knowledge to have the food you'd like appear before you. Another advantage is in confrontations. This could be a confrontation with another person or with an animal of some sort. Let's say you're walking home and someone comes out from the shadows and is intending to hurt you. You could simply turn him/her into a small animal that you can easily catch or a rock or other stationary object. You could turn him/her into anything that you can take with you to the proper authorities (if they're muggle authorities of course you'd turn him/her back first) and turn them in. | |

| Very good, 20 points to Ravenclaw.
Now I ask you all to try to do some extra credit research about how Transfigurations relates to other school topics as well as the muggle world(and the books.) However you can turn in anything extra you know about Transfigurations as your extra credit.

| Transfiguration is a subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It teaches the art of changing of the form and appearance of an object. This type of magic is commonly referred to as "Transfiguration." There are limits to transfiguration, which are governed by Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. There are also many branches of Transfiguration, including Cross-Species Transfiguration and Human Transfiguration.Transfiguration is a required subject for all first year students, with the option of a N.E.W.T. course in the sixth and seventh years. Minerva McGonagall was the Transfiguration Professor from 1956 until 1998, the year in which she became Headmistress of the school. Before her, Albus Dumbledore taught Transfiguration. It is unknown who became Transfiguration professor after McGonagall became Headmistress of Hogwarts. McGonagall believes Transfiguration to be more elegant and superior to other types of magic.Like Charm work, Transfiguration is achieved through concentration, precise wand movements, and the proper pronunciation of an incantation. However it is generally more difficult than Charms and it requires great effort.Students practise actual transfigurations during Transfiguration classes. Accidents sometimes result in partial transfigurations. Hermione is one of the best students in Transfiguration; therefore, she is a favourite of Professor McGonagall.Transfiguration is the art of changing the form and appearance of an object and the vanishing of objects. This magical art is governed by Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration which acknowledges the limits to the power of this branch of magic.Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry devotes an entire section of their curriculum to Transfiguration.Transfiguring can be done to most, if not all objects. Sometimes if it is done improperly the transfigured object can become half-transfigured or permanently stuck. Viktor Krum half-transfigured himself into a shark in the Second Task of The Triwizard Tournament in 1994. However, he was not stuck in this form.Conjuration is also considered part of Transfiguration. It is very advanced, and is not taught until sixth year, in N.E.W.T. classes. ANIMAGI An Animagus possesses the ability to transform themselves into an animal at will, while still retaining their human mind. This is considered a form of transfiguration, and a hard one at that. It takes years for one to master this skill but proves very useful. Minerva McGonagall was a registered Animagus, but stated herself that it was only for educational purposes. However, Animagi can transform at will, while a spell is needed to transfigure oneself. Animagi can only take the form of one animal. This animal form is not chosen by the wizard, but determined by their inner traits and personality.
I know a lot more, but I don't know should I repeat all that I have already written in Transfiguration Essay.

| This is excellent Ronald, 50 points to Gryffindor, and no, Seeing as I graded that essay as well it will not be necessary to repeat it.
However, any information anyone has about the art of transfiguring objects, and how it is done, will be accepted.
